Creative Artefact Ideas

Planning for Creative Artifact (10 Marks)

Synopsis
  • The main hypothesis that I have constructed from my coursework is the narrative in the films Hard Men and Layer Cake, in determining what ways crime and morality in society, has developed since the 1990s. A new development in the study is the possible changing of the study title, dating back to the 1920s.
  • I will create a script that will equate to approximately five minutes screen time. From my script which formulates the narrative of my sequence, I will produce twenty key frames that captures my hypothesis explored in my coursework. I will also need to create a location report and a risk assessment.
  • Overall I wish to include aspects from both films, conveying crime from both decades, ideally communicating the transition of crime types and the changing of characters over time.
  • To produce an effective screenplay, I want to emphasise the macro aspect I am exploring in the coursework, which is narrative. The way I will do this is through generating an original narrative, creating my own storyline on modern day gangsters or organised crime.
  • This will be five minutes long, focusing on correct lighting, costume attire and acting, all factors which help in communicating the findings I have established through analysis of my macro element, Narrative.

Plot Line:

  • The main focus is on a gentleman who is on his way to meet the head of an organised crime family, a crime organisation which his family has been involved with for centuries.
  • As the meeting progresses, the various paintings in the hallways and office of the buildings are zoomed into and cut scene to the protagonists ancestors throughout the years, communicating the story of how he got to where he is now.
  • As we see more pictures and more paintings of his ancestors, the story becomes more detailed and towards the resolution of the five minute sequence, a rivalry with the ancestors of the head of the organisation becomes clear, so all pleasantries before hand are discovered as a charade in order for the protagonist to attain vengeance on behalf of his ancestors. This is done through the killing of the head of the organised crime family.
Underlining Message:
  • The idea that the morality of individuals does not change throughout history, just the crime in which their morality is conveyed.

Classwork for Wednesday 6th November 2013

Starter:

I believe the hypothesis of their study is in relation to love that has been lost. The way it is filmed shows the audience two stories that run parallel to one another. The idea of lost love is also conveyed through common actions carried out by characters, promoted from the thoughts of one characters that appears to be engaged in reflection of these events; for example the sequence that shows both characters plucking the pheasant.
